What is grief?
What you yearn for is what you've lost.
Learn to dance with grief
Grief shows up in many forms.
It changes how you see the world.
It affects your dreams.
Grief can be your greatest teacher.
Grief is like your fingerprint, no one experiences it in exactly the same way.
“No one understands how dysregulated my body is.”
“I often feel like I can't breathe.”
“My stress overwhelms me.”
“Nothing will help me get to the way I used to feel.”
“I don't have time to meditate.”
“My heart pounds so fast that I think I'm having a heart attack.”
“I’m stressed trying to figure out what isn’t working and how to fix it.”
None of these feelings are your fault. You are not alone.
The goal of meditation is to enhance presence with the self. Imagine having the power to embody a sense of calm. Meditation is whatever you want it
to be. You can walk in meditation, sit in meditation, drum in meditation, there's no right way to engage with it. You decide the relationship you want with it: calibration, insight, focus or calm.
MEDITATE
The benefits of meditation for better mental health include:
Reduces anxiety - Meditation can reduce stress levels, which translates to less anxiety.
Promotes emotional health: Meditation can lead to improved self-image and a more positive outlook on life.
Enhances self awareness: Meditation may help you develop a stronger understanding of yourself, helping you grow into your best self.
Generates kindness - Meditation can increase positive feelings and actions toward yourself and others.
Improves sleep - In a study, people who meditated stayed asleep longer and had improved insomnia severity, compared with those who did not meditate.
THE TRUTH, there is no magic potion to eliminate grief.
The emotional responses to grief stem from the past, the present and the projected future.
Grief is not a choice.
The idea that we want to eliminate grief would mean eliminating the part of you that lived before grief. Every shared memory and moment.
You have a choice. Grief can be your adversary. Or make it your partner.
When you acknowledge grief you are with it. It becomes your partner, you get to know it and care for it. When you ignore it, it gets bigger.
Grief relief comes through memory, self-care, and shared stories. Honor the self through meditation to teach the mind and body how to be in sync.
Learn to partner with your grief through the practice of meditation.

“You helped me through a painful period day by day. Tapping into my sexual grief, something I didn't even know about until you told me about it. You helped me let go of my anger, guilt, blame self-pity and showed me how to get on with my life. Thank you for challenging my hostage-taker, showing me how to be my own negotiator. I am getting to know me for the first time in my life."
- Nolan Donelly
A note from Edy
This process is a practice for the soul. When grief or trauma makes an imprint on you, it feels chaotic. It doesn't matter if you decide to take 30 seconds or many minutes to stop and take in a breath and release it. This allows your body to recalibrate. Three breaths clean your lungs. Steady breathing, in and out and in and out, reduces anxiety and calibrates your mind and body. Some people shy away from the idea of meditation, and I was one of those folks. Whatever you want to call this is fine. It is about redirecting energy that's heavy and overwhelming and converting it into self-care. It's about intention. Direct care for yourself turns into self-love. If time given to the self is a gift, continue to unwrap the gift, be curious about the ways you can be with you. Please be kind to yourself. This is an intimate journey. Personal and ever evolving. Welcome to meeting all the different aspects of you!
Grief and trauma responses don't go away, so it's important to make a deeper connection with those thoughts and feelings.

“I never believed I could learn to become more verbal about my feelings. I realized how much I had to be true to myself. I thought I was just stuck in a perpetual state of mourning the loss of my father. What I realized is that the traumatic childhood I had made my grief much bigger. I've lost too much time. Edy is very present and her style is inviting without being threatening.”
